Prosperity Summit 2025: Tackling Poverty in Bergen County Through Community Action
More than 60,000 people in Bergen County are living in poverty, and the time for action is now. To address this growing crisis, the Bergen County Workforce Development Board is hosting the Prosperity Summit 2025 — a transformative event aimed at fostering an Opportunity Community where all individuals have the chance to thrive.
The Prosperity Summit will take place on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at The Moses Center, Bergen Community College (400 Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ 07652). This free event will bring together business leaders, nonprofit organizations, educators, government officials, and community members to align efforts in breaking the cycle of poverty and creating pathways to success.
Why This Summit Matters:
- Understanding Poverty from Lived Experience: Learn directly from those who have overcome poverty and the barriers they faced.
- Introducing the Opportunity Community Model: A proven framework for uniting stakeholders to reduce poverty and create long-term impact.
- Engagement & Action: Attendees will have the chance to sign up as Navigators, volunteers who help individuals access resources and opportunities to move toward financial stability.
- Economic and Workforce Development: A thriving community means a stronger workforce, healthier families, and a more prosperous Bergen County.
“We can do better,” says Dr. Donna M. Beegle, an expert on poverty and systemic change. “This summit is an opportunity to equip community leaders with the tools and strategies needed to make a lasting difference.” Dr.Beegle and her team at Communication across Barriers will facilitate the summit.
This initiative is funded by the New Jersey Department of Labor through the TANF Innovation Fund Grant, underscoring a commitment to long-term solutions that empower individuals and families.
